Photinerary app icon

Plan photography trips around the light, the sky and the tides.

Photinerary works out where the sun, moon and Milky Way will be, what the tide is doing, and when the light will be right, for the exact place and day you plan to shoot. See the shot through your own lens before you go, and describe a trip in a sentence to get a draft built from places that exist and drives that have been routed.

For iPhone, iPad and Mac, with an optional Pro subscription.

Coming soon to Android.

Plans you can trust on the day

Places are looked up in map data before they're suggested, and every time is calculated for that spot.

πŸ“Έ

Shot Planner

Put yourself and your subject on the map, choose your camera and lens, and see the field of view with the sun, moon and Milky Way lines on top. Find Alignment searches the weeks ahead for when the moon lines up behind your subject. How it works

πŸ”

View from Here

See the shot through your own lens: the real terrain and city buildings, with the sun and moon at their true size for that night. At 24 mm the moon is a dot; at 600 mm it towers over a ridge 10 km away. How it works

⛰️

Sunrise over the terrain

Sunrise is when the sun clears the ridge, not a flat horizon. On the Yosemite Valley floor in October that's 8:02, not 6:58. The Shot Planner also checks the line of sight to your subject and tilts into 3D. How it works

πŸ—ΊοΈ

Trip Planner

Build a trip day by day, with sunrise, sunset and the tides as stops of their own. Or describe it in a sentence and review a draft with stops along the way, places to stay and real drive times, including the scenic route if you ask. How it works

πŸŒ…

Sky Forecast and alerts

The week ahead read for photographers: sunrise and sunset color, and clear, dark nights. Set alerts on your spots and hear the evening before when one will be worth the drive. Readings and alerts are Pro. How it works

⏰

Never miss the light

Remind Me tells you when to leave, from the real drive plus your walk in. For early starts it sets an alarm. A countdown sits on your Lock Screen, widgets show today's light, and a Daily Summary briefs you each morning. How it works

πŸ“

Locations and journal

Save places with tags, notes and reference photos, or pin one from a photo's GPS. Keep a dated journal of each visit, and see how a spot changes through the year. How it works

πŸ‘₯

Community

Over 8,000 photo locations to browse, friends to share with, and trips and shots you can plan together. Part of Photinerary Pro. How it works

On-device AI

Trip and shot drafts come from Apple's on-device model. It chooses among real, checked places; the app works out every time and drive; and nothing is saved until you've reviewed it. Your library isn't sent to anyone. How it works

See the shot before you drive there

View from Here draws the terrain, buildings, sun, moon and Milky Way through your lens's real field of view. Drag to move the time and watch the moon climb out from behind the rock.

Yosemite Valley from Tunnel View at 35 mm, at sunset
Lower Manhattan from Brooklyn Bridge Park at 24 mm
The full moon beside One World Trade Center at 400 mm

Yosemite at 35 mm; lower Manhattan from Brooklyn at 24 mm; and from Liberty State Park at 400 mm, the 25 October 2026 full moon beside One World Trade Center. Terrain from open elevation data, buildings from OpenStreetMap.
